Acyclovir
Acyclovir is a drug used for treating conditions caused by herpes viruses such as chicken pox, genital herpes, and cold sores. The medication does not represent the cure for the diseases but helps to reduce virus spreading and stimulates the organism for fighting infection using the sources of immune system. Acyclovir has maximum effectiveness when taken in early stages of the disease. Don’t lose time and start taking the medicine immediately after it was prescribed to you. The drug may represent danger for certain group of patients. Talk to your healthcare provider to determine whether Acyclovir is appropriate for you.
Treatment with Acyclovir cannot guarantee that other people won’t be infected by you. Do not stop taking the medication earlier than it is prescribed by your doctor. You may start feeling better before the infection is treated.
Do not take Acyclovir without previous consultation with your doctor if you have any of the following conditions: pregnancy and breast-feeding, allergies, or kidney and immunities problems. Follow all your doctor’s instructions about the medicine usage and your dose. Get medical help as soon as you notice symptoms of possible allergy to Acyclovir (skin rush, blood in the urine, difficulty breathing, or seizures).
